Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report August 25th through Saturday, August 31st

For the period of Sunday, August 25th through Saturday, August 31st, the Police Department responded to 1,007 calls for service, of which 124 required formal investigations. The following is asummary report of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.

Sunday, August 25: 1. Shortly before 2:13 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 300 block of Fairview Avenue regarding a mail theft report. Surveillance footage revealed unknown suspects drove up to the victim’s mailbox in a light colored Honda Civic and stole the victim’s mail. The investigation is ongoing. 2. At approximately 6:38 p.m., an officer responded to Extended Stay, 401 East Santa Clara Street, regarding a grand theft report. An investigation revealed an employee of Residence Inn stole items from the victim’s luggage while stored in her hotel room. The investigation is ongoing. Monday, August 26: 3. Just after 7:33 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 800 block of Fairview Avenue regarding a burglary report. The officer discovered an unknown suspect forced open the victim’s locked carport storage unit and fled with the victim’s camping supplies. The investigation is ongoing. 4. At approximately 12:30 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 700 block of Pamela Circle regarding a residential burglary report. The officer determined unknown suspect(s) smashed numerous windows and glass doors before they activated the alarm. No loss was reported. The investigation is ongoing. Tuesday, August 27: 5. Around 8:25 a.m., an officer responded to Denny’s, 7 East Huntington Drive, regarding a theft report. The manager of the restaurant witnessed the suspect order his meal, eat the omelet, and flee without paying. The 29-year-old male from Compton was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. 6. Just before 3:27 p.m., an officer responded to Springhill Suites, 99 North Second Avenue, regarding a fraud report. An investigation revealed the suspect, a 25-year-old female from Los Angeles, checked into the hotel under a false name and charged more than $700.00 to the fraudulent credit card on file before being asked to leave. The investigation is ongoing. Wednesday, August 28: 7. At about 1:40 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a bicyclist in the area of Foothill Boulevard and Second  Avenue for riding his bike on the sidewalk in a business district. An investigation revealed the subject was in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The 39-year-old male from Arcadia also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. 8. Shortly after 7:00 p.m., an officer was dispatched to a residence in the 300 block of West Lemon Avenue regarding a vehicle burglary report. An investigation revealed an unknown suspect(s) smashed the front passenger side window of the vehicle and stole a duffle bag and camera. The investigation is ongoing. Thursday, August 29: 9. Just before 3:30 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of St. Joseph Street and Santa Anita Avenue for an equipment violation. An investigation revealed the driver was driving with a suspended license and she was in possession of methamphetamine. The 49-year-old female from Monrovia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. 10. Just before noon, officers located suspects inside a stolen vehicle while patrolling the 1200 block of Baldwin Avenue. An investigation revealed the suspects were in possession of stolen checks and fraudulent credit cards. The driver also had four outstanding warrants for his arrest. The 29-year-old male from La Puente and the 25- year-old female from Fontana were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Friday, August 30: 11. At about 5:20 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of Palm Drive regarding the report of a burglary. An investigation revealed two male suspects, wearing masks, entered the rear yard and smashed a glass door. The suspects ransacked the residence before fleeing the scene in a black sedan. The investigation is ongoing. 12. Just after 6:00 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 300 block of West Wistaria Avenue regarding the report of a burglary. An investigation revealed two male suspects entered the rear yard and smashed a sliding glass door. They entered the residence and stole several items before fleeing the scene in a black sedan. The suspects are described as male Blacks, wearing black hooded sweatshirts, black pants, black masks and blue gloves. Saturday, August 31: 13. Shortly after 1:00 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at 7-Eleven, 102 East Huntington Drive, for expired registration. Upon making contact with the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from the driver. Through a series of tests, the officer determined the 37-year-old male from La Puente was driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. Further investigation revealed he was also driving with a suspended license and no proof of insurance. The vehicle was impounded and the subject was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. 14. Just before 4:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to Forever 21, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a theft report. An investigation revealed two female suspects entered the store carrying bags. Both suspects filled their bags with stolen merchandise and attempted to leave the store without paying when a Loss Prevention Security Guard stopped them. The merchandise recovered totaled over $300.00. Further investigation revealed they also had over $400.00 worth of stolen merchandise from Cotton On in their possession. The 18-year-old female from Duarte and the 19-year-old female from Arcadia were both issued citations and released at the scene.
