Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report Sunday, July 25th through Saturday, July 31st

For the period of Sunday, July 25th through Saturday, July 31st, the Police Department responded to 1,016 calls for service, of which 113 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period. Sunday, July 25:
At 9:47 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1400 block of Rancho Road regarding a burglary report. The officer determined the unknown suspect entered the home by smashing a bedroom window and fled with the victim’s jewelry.
At 5:21 p.m., an officer responded to the Westfield Santa Anita Mall, located at 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a theft from vehicle report. The victim stated someone stole the rear passenger side wheel from his Honda Accord sometime between 3:45 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
Monday, July 26:
3. At 8:36 a.m., an officer responded to 24 Hour Fitness, located at 125 North First Avenue, regarding a commercial burglary report. The officer discovered someone broke into the victim’s locker, between 7:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., and stole a set of keys. The suspect then used the keys to enter the victim’s vehicle, where the suspect stole cash and left the victim’s keys.
4. At 3:58 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1200 block of Mayflower Street regarding a burglary in progress. A victim encountered the suspect inside the home and
witnessed him throwing items. Responding officers located the suspect inside a bathroom where he had caused damage to the sink. The 29-year-old male transient was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Tuesday, July 27:
5. At 12:22 p.m., an officer responded to the front counter of the Arcadia Police Department to document a battery that occurred in the 400 block of West Camino Real Avenue. The victim stated an altercation between her and her husband resulted in the husband choking the victim. The victim did not require medical treatment.
6. At 4:06 p.m., an officer responded to JCPenney, located at 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a robbery report. The officer discovered that while the suspect was exiting the store with stolen merchandise, the suspect pepper-sprayed the loss prevention employee and fled in a black Audi sedan. The reported loss was $185.00. The suspect is described as a bald Hispanic male with an average build and he was seen wearing a black button down shirt and white camouflage pants. Arcadia Fire responded to provide medical treatment to the store employee.
7. At 4:30 p.m., an officer responded to the Hale Medical Building, located at 289 West Huntington Drive, regarding a theft from vehicle report. The victim stated his catalytic converter was stolen from his Toyota Prius sometime between 2:55 p.m. and 5:20 p.m.
Wednesday, July 28:
8. At 12:16 p.m., an officer responded to Foothill Federal Credit Union, located at 30 South First Avenue, regarding an attempted vehicle burglary report. Witnesses reported seeing the suspect tamper with two vehicles. Officers located the 24-year-old male transient and found he was in possession of burglary tools commonly used to commit vehicle burglaries. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
9. At 11:36 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 500 block of West Lemon Avenue regarding a residential burglary report. Upon investigating a call of loud noises coming from the residence, officer discovered a shattered window and marijuana plants growing inside the home.
Thursday, July 29:
10. At 12:46 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 700 block of East Winnie Way regarding a package theft report. Surveillance footage captured the suspect, described as a Hispanic male with a black mustache, stealing the victim’s package and returning to a black car. The suspect was wearing a black t-shirt and blue jeans.
11. At 8:25 p.m., an officer responded to Tridocs Medical Plaza, located at 900 South First Avenue, regarding a theft from a vehicle. The victim discovered her catalytic converter had been stolen from her Toyota Sequoia sometime between 8:00 a.m. and 7:42 p.m.
12. At 10:19 p.m., an officer responded to the 00 block of West Camino Real Avenue regarding a traffic collision between a moving vehicle and a parked vehicle. Upon contacting the driver, the 31-year-old male, from Arcadia, admitted to consuming alcohol before driving home. Through a series of tests, the officer determined the suspect was driving with a blood alcohol content over the legal limit. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. He was also charged with driving without a license.
Friday, July 30:
13. At 8:33 a.m., an officer responded to Korean Market, located at 171 Live Oak Avenue, regarding a burglary report. An investigation revealed an unknown suspect smashed the front glass door and stole cash from the register.
Saturday, July 31:
14. At 4:46 p.m., an officer responded to the Westfield Santa Anita Mall, located at 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a stolen vehicle report. Sometime between 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on July 31, someone stole the victim’s 2000 Chevrolet Prizm from the parking lot.
