Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report - October 9th, through Saturday, October 15th

For the period of Sunday, October 9th, through Saturday, October 15th the Police Department responded to 930 calls for service, of which 91 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.

Sunday, October 9:

  1. At 6:17 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 500 block of Foothill Boulevard regarding the report of a theft of a catalytic converter. The victim witnessed two male suspects removing the catalytic converter from his vehicle. The suspects loaded the catalytic converter into the trunk of a white sedan and fled the scene westbound on Foothill Boulevard.

  2. At 10:23 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 600 block of West Duarte Road regarding the report of a missing person. An investigation revealed an elderly male walked away from his residence. A search was conducted with negative results. The elderly male returned home in good health four days later.

Monday, October 10: 3. At 4:18 a.m., officers were dispatched to Daniel’s Jewelers, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a burglary that had just occurred. Three masked suspects broke into the location by smashing a glass door. They then smashed a display case, stole an unknown amount of jewelry, and fled the scene in a white four-door sedan.


4. At 6:55 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 00 block of West Le Roy Avenue regarding the report of an at-risk missing male adult. Arcadia officers conducted a search with the assistance of the Pasadena Airship and a Claremont Police K-9 officer. The missing person was located and found to be in good health.


5. At 8:39 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 1600 block of South Fifth Avenue regarding an audible alarm. An investigation revealed three male suspects, wearing dark clothing and masks, smashed a rear sliding glass door and made entry into the residence. They fled the scene in a dark colored SUV.


Tuesday, October 11:

6. At 2:39 a.m., an officer responded to the 100 block of East Huntington Drive regarding a traffic collision that had just occurred. An investigation revealed the driver had crashed into a fire hydrant. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from the driver. Through a series of tests, the officer determined the 32- year-old male from Texas was driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


7. At 11:40 p.m., an officer responded to the parking lot of Westfield Santa Anita, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding the report of a battery and robbery that had just occurred. An investigation revealed the female suspect waited for her ex-boyfriend and his date to leave the movie theatre. She struck his date on the head with her cellphone, stole her ex- boyfriend’s chain he was wearing around his neck, and fled the scene in her vehicle.


Wednesday, October 12:

8. At 1:05 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a bicyclist for traffic violations. An investigation revealed the male subject had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The 34- year-old male from Duarte was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


9. At 6:23 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 1100 block of West Huntington Drive regarding a suspicious person. An officer witnessed the subject hide a meth pipe underneath a parked car. Further investigation revealed the 35-year-old male from La Puente had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


Thursday, October 13: 10. At 7:24 p.m., an officer responded to Arcadia City Hall, 240 West Huntington Drive, regarding the report of a transient in the bushes yelling profanities at children playing on the soccer field. The transient was contacted and was found to have an outstanding warrant for her arrest. The 42-year-old female from El Monte was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Friday, October 14:

11. At 5:42 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 500 block of Santa Maria Road regarding a domestic dispute. An investigation revealed a couple had an argument over dinner that turned physical. The male suspect struck his girlfriend on her face. She also told officers he had struck her in the head and chest the day before. The 70-year-old male from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


12. At 7:27 p.m., An officer responded to Sephora, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding the report of a theft that had just occurred. The suspect selected over $400 worth of cosmetic merchandise and concealed the items inside of her handbag before leaving the store. The suspect was contacted and detained by a Loss Prevention Officer. The 16-year-old female from Monterey Park was issued a citation and released to her father.


Saturday, October 15:

13. At 1:23 a.m., officers responded to Le Meridien Hotel, 130 West Huntington Drive, regarding the report of a domestic dispute. An investigation revealed a husband and wife were involved in a physical altercation that left both parties with visible injuries. The 44- year-old male and the 31-year-old female from Pasadena were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


14. At 11:59 p.m., an officer responded to the 800 block of La Cadena regarding the report of a female walking in lanes of traffic. Upon contacting the female, the officer noticed symptoms of alcohol intoxication and determined that she was unable to care for herself. She was also found to have two outstanding warrants for her arrest. The 45-year-old female from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
