Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report- Sunday, June 19th through Saturday, June 25th

For the period of Sunday, June 19th through Saturday, June 25th, the Police Department responded to 934 calls for service, of which 111 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period. Sunday, June 19:

  1. At 5:18 a.m., an officer responded to Cigar Palace, located at 153 East Foothill Boulevard, regarding a commercial burglary report. The officer determined someone had smashed a front window and they had stolen cash and tobacco products. The suspect may have fled in a black, four-door sedan.

  2. At 8:53 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 500 block of Sharon Road regarding a battery report. An investigation revealed an altercation between a tenant and a home- owner and her daughter escalated when the tenant battered the owner and daughter when she was asked to move out. The 52-year-old female from Arcadia is outstanding as of June 28th.

Monday, June 20: 3. At 8:08 a.m., an officer responded to Bonita Park, located at 100 South Second Avenue, regarding a vandalism report. The officer discovered someone had spray-painted graffiti inside the public restrooms. The suspects also removed lights from the ceiling.

4. At 6:59 p.m., an officer responded to the Westfield Santa Anita Mall, located at 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a grand theft report. Two separate victims reported their catalytic converters had been stolen. A witness reported seeing three Hispanic males exit a white Dodge Charger before stealing one of the converters. The witness saw additional converters in the trunk of the suspect’s vehicle. The suspects had fled before the officer arrived.

Tuesday, June 21:

5. At 8:17 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 900 block of Fairview Avenue regarding a theft from vehicle report. Sometime during the previous night, unknown suspect(s) stole the victim’s tailgate from his Toyota Tacoma.


6. At 3:34 p.m., an officer responded to the Westfield Santa Anita Mall, located at 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a stolen vehicle report. The victim discovered his 1969 Volkswagen Beetle had been stolen from the mall parking lot. The theft occurred between 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. on June 21st.


Wednesday, June 22:

7. At 1:34 p.m., an officer responded to Nordstrom, located at 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a grand theft incident. An investigation revealed two suspects stole six designer handbags. The suspects have been identified from previous incidents as a female and male team. The suspects are outstanding as of the date of this report.


8. At 4:44 p.m., an officer responded to the Westfield Santa Anita Mall, located at 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a theft from vehicle report. The officer determined an unknown suspect smashed the victim’s car window and fled with numerous designer handbags. The incident happened between 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. on June 22nd.


Thursday, June 23:

9. At 9:46 a.m., an officer responded to a business complex at 145 East Live Oak Avenue regarding a mail theft incident. The reporting party discovered the mailboxes to the complex had been damaged in an effort to steal mail.


10. At 11:57 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1400 block of South 8th Avenue regarding an attempted burglary. Surveillance footage revealed a lone suspect broke into the home but fled when the audible alarm activated. The suspect is described as a Black male, between the ages of 20 and 30-years-old, approximately 5’10”, 150 pounds, and seen wearing a white t-shirt, blue denim pants, and a black and white jacket.


Friday, June 24: 11. At 5:48 a.m., an officer responded to the 500 block of Las Tunas Drive regarding a report of lewd acts. The officer located a nude suspect walking in the parking lot. The 38-year- old male from Victorville was arrested and issued a citation.

12. At 6:01 p.m., an officer responded the United States Post Office, located at 41 Wheeler Avenue, regarding a mail theft report. A witness reported seeing the suspect, a Hispanic male, exit a black sedan and steal eight trays of mail from the post office loading dock.

Saturday, June 25:

13. At 2:31 a.m., an officer responded to the 700 block of West Camino Real Avenue regarding a vehicle burglary report. The victim stated he awoke to his car alarm being activated when an unknown suspect smashed his car window. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 5’9”, seen wearing a black and white checkered flannel and a white bucket hat. There suspect fled empty-handed.


14. At 5:33 p.m., an officer initiated contact with a vehicle driving with a flat tire seen pulling into the Motel 6 parking lot, located at 225 Colorado Place. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his person. The officer concluded the driver had a blood alcohol content of greater than 0.08% and the 31-year-old male from Los Angeles was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
