Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report - 11/21/2021 to 11/27/2021

For the period of Sunday, November 21st through Saturday, November 27th, the Police Department responded to 960 calls for service, of which 87 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.
Sunday, November 21:
At 1:26 a.m., an officer responded to Arcadia Methodist Hospital, located at 300 West Huntington Drive, regarding a battery report. The victim, a nurse at the hospital, was approached by a patient who wrapped his arm around the victim’s neck for no apparent reason. The victim refused medical treatment. The suspect is a 32-year-old male from San Gabriel. The investigation is ongoing.
At 7:18 a.m., an officer responded to the 1000 block of Hampton Road regarding the activation of a GPS tracking device that had been previously deployed to catch mail and package thieves. The suspect was found to be in possession of the tracking device and stolen mail from various Arcadia residents. A records check revealed the 28-year-old male from Covina had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. During a search incident to an arrest, the officer located a small bag of what appeared to be methamphetamine. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Monday, November 22:
At 6:10 p.m., an officer responded to 24 Hour Fitness, located at 125 North First Avenue, regarding a robbery investigation. Surveillance footage revealed the suspect entered the gym, stole a pair of ear bud headphones, displayed a crowbar when he was confronted by a store employee, and fled to the Gold Line train headed eastbound. The suspect is described as a male, approximately 20 to 30-years-old, with a medium build, 5’8” tall,wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, black shoes, an orange vest, and a backpack. The investigation is ongoing.
At 5:56 p.m., an officer responded to Macy’s, located at 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a theft report. An investigation revealed the suspect stole more than $450.00 worth of store merchandise before attempting to flee. He was detained by the loss prevention employees. The 19-year-old male transient from Los Angeles was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Tuesday, November 23:
At 12:59 a.m., an officer responded to Arcadia Methodist Hospital, located at 300 West Huntington Drive, regarding a disturbance in the lobby. The officer discovered the suspect stole a clock from the hospital and fled. The suspect is believed to be a 28-year-old male transient from Moreno Valley.
At 12:07 p.m., an officer responded to Denny’s, located at 7 East Huntington Drive, regarding a grand theft report. The reporting party stated someone stole an air compressor and tampered with the water heater and air conditioning unit. The incident happened sometime between November 16th and November 23rd.
Wednesday, November 24:
1. At 5:20 p.m., an officer responded to the County of Los Angeles Department of Agricultural Commissioner/Weight and Measures, located at 12300 Lower Azusa Road, regarding a theft. Surveillance footage revealed two suspects stole the catalytic converters from a Toyota Sienna and a GMC Canyon sometime between 4:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. on November 20th.
Thursday, November 25: 1. At 2:09 a.m., an officer responded to Arcadia Methodist Hospital, located at 300 West Huntington Drive, regarding a battery that occurred at Westfield Santa Anita Mall, at 400 South Baldwin Avenue. The victim stated an altercation escalated between coworkers resulting in the victim being kicked by two colleagues. The victim was uncooperative and refused to provide the names of the suspects.
2. At 9:35 a.m., an officer responded to the 1600 block of Hyland Avenue regarding a stolen vehicle report. Surveillance footage revealed a lone male suspect, approximately 5’8” tall, wearing a green hooded sweatshirt and blue pants stole the victim’s vehicle from his driveway. A tracking device in the vehicle revealed it was in the City of Covina. Covina Police Department attempted to locate the vehicle, but were unsuccessful. The vehicle was ultimately located by Azusa Police Department in their city.
3. At 5:17 p.m., an officer responded to the Arcadia Police Department front counter regarding a fraud report. The victim received an email he believed came from his church pastor. The email instructed the victim to purchase five gift cards and provide the pastor with photos of the gift card. The suspect informed the victim that he would be reimbursed for the purchase. The victim complied and when the suspect asked the victim to purchase more gift cards, the victim discovered the whole incident was a scam.
Friday, November 26:
1. At 8:03 a.m., an officer responded to the 11700 block of Clark Street regarding a commercial burglary that had just occurred. The witness saw the suspect running from the location and fleeing in a gray Dodge Magnum. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, between 25 and 35-years-old, approximately 5’10” tall, and seen wearing a gray Nike hooded sweatshirt, black shorts, black and white shoes, and a black face mask. The loss is unknown at this time.
2. At 9:13 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 700 block of South Old Ranch Road regarding a vandalism report. The officer discovered an unidentified suspect broke the victim’s patio light fixture and used it to vandalize two of the victim’s vehicles. The suspect is described as a male wearing a light-colored sweater and dark colored pants.
Saturday, November 27:
3. At 2:13 a.m., an officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of First Avenue and Huntington Drive for lane straddling. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his body. Due to the level of impairment, the officer arrested and transported the 62-year-old male from Fontana to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
4. At 2:27 p.m., an officer responded to the 700 block of Fairview Avenue regarding a package theft report. Sometime between 1:59 p.m. and 2:03 p.m. on November 27th, someone stole the victim’s package from his porch. Surveillance cameras captured the suspect, who is described as a Hispanic male with a shaved head, average build, and wearing a navy blue bandana face covering, a black Adidas long sleeve shirt, and black shorts.
