The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of February 17 – February 23, 2019. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this time period:




Sunday, February 17th

At 8:04 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 200 block of Colorado Place. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a 59-year-old female experiencing chest pain. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, blood glucose level monitoring, intravenous access, and medications. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.

Monday, February 18th

At 12:08 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical call in the 700 block of Val Street. Fire crews arrived to find an elderly female with hip pain after a fall. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, blood glucose level monitoring, intravenous access, and pain medication. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.

Tuesday, February 19th

At 11:55 a.m., Engine 106 responded to a fire alarm in the 600 block of West Wisteria Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a single family residence with no occupants present. Investigation determined there was no problem and no reason for the activation. Fire crews used the Ring Video Doorbell at the location to contact the resident and inform them of the false activation.

Wednesday, February 20th

At 7:09 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 1100 block of Colorado Street. Fire crews arrived to find a 25-year-old male experiencing nausea and vomiting. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including intravenous access, 12-lead cardiac monitoring, and oxygen therapy. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.

Thursday, February 21st

At 10:08 a.m., Engine 106 and Pasadena Rescue Ambulance 33 responded to a medical call in the 1000 block of Daveric Drive, Pasadena. Upon arrival, fire personnel found an elderly female in an altered level of consciousness. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and blood glucose level monitoring. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.




Friday, February 22nd

At 5:08 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist at the corner of West Norman Avenue and South Santa Anita Avenue. Fire crews arrived to find a 48-year-old male experiencing a behavioral emergency. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including oxygen therapy, neurological assessment, intravenous therapy, and 12-lead cardiac monitoring. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.

Saturday, February 23rd

At 6:57 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical call in the 1600 block of South Baldwin Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a 62-year- old female who had a pulse but was in respiratory arrest. The 9-1-1 caller stated that the patient was having trouble breathing prior to the arrival of fire crews. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene including oxygen therapy, assisted with bag-valve-mask ventilations, 12-lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and drug therapy. The patient was transported to Methodist Hospital of Southern California for further evaluation and treatment.

Volunteer Activity

During the reporting period, the Arcadia Fire Department had a total of 80 hours of volunteer services. Specifically, volunteers from the community donated their time to assist the Department with administrative, fire prevention, and miscellaneous duties.

Training

During the reporting period, the Arcadia Fire Department conducted a total of 392 hours of training. Some of the subjects covered were: Hose Evolutions, Ladder Evolutions, Ventilation Techniques, Salvage and Overhaul Techniques, Tiller Certification, Defensive Driving, Engine Company Equipment, Search and Rescue, Communications, EOC Operations, Records Management, Fire Suppression Tactics, Power Tools, Hand Tools, Truck Operations, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic Continuing Education, Hazardous Materials, Lighting Operations, Rope Rescue, Incident Command, Pre-Incident Planning, Supervision and Management, and Standard Operating Guideline Review.
