Arcadia Police activity report Sept. 1-7, 2013
Calls for Service / Formal Investigations Sept. 1-7: 948 / 119 Total Year to Date: 34,278 / 4,258
For the period of Sunday, September 1st, through Saturday, September 7th, the Police Department responded to 948 calls for service of which 119 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.
Sunday, September 1:
1. Just after 2:35 a.m., an officer was patrolling the area of Live Oak Avenue and Sixth Avenue when he observed a male subject urinating on an electricity pole. The 22-year-old Asian male was cited and released in the field without incident.
2. At approximately 5:45 p.m., an officer responded to the Arcadia Police Department front counter in regards to a theft report. After having dinner in the outdoor patio of Outback Steakhouse, 166 East Huntington Drive, the victim returned home without realizing she had left her purse at the table. The purse was not located and no one at the restaurant saw who took it.
Monday, September 2:
3. At about 11:21 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the area of El Dorado Street and Second Avenue in reference to a battery report. A male subject and his wife engaged in mutual combat after a verbal argument. Both subjects had visible injuries and gave conflicting statements about who was the dominant aggressor. Both subjects, a 48-year-old Asian male and 50-year-old Asian female, were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
4. Around 8:53 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a broken tail light in the area of Santa Cruz Road and Colorado Boulevard. The officer discovered the 26-year-old Hispanic male driver was never issued a license. The subject was cited in the field and the vehicle was released to its registered owner.
Tuesday, September 3:
5. Shortly before 1:00 p.m., an officer located a vehicle with a warrant attached to the license plate and conducted a traffic stop on Huntington Drive near Gate 1 of the Santa Anita Race Track. The officer discovered the warrant belonged to the driver who failed to appear at a court date. The 41-year-old female of unknown race was cited for driving with a suspended license and her vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
6. Around 11:30 p.m., an officer conducted an enforcement stop on a vehicle in the area of Huntington Drive and Baldwin Avenue for expired registration tags. A record check revealed the 38-year-old Black male had an expired license, two outstanding misdemeanor warrants, and was in possession of prescription pills without a prescription. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Wednesday, September 4:
7. At approximately 7:38 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 400 block of West Huntington Drive in regards to a report of a possible overdose. A 13-year-old female subject became ill after she ingested an unknown amount of Aspirin pills while she was walking to Arcadia High School, 180 Campus Drive. Arcadia Fire responded to the scene and transported the subject to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for treatment. Approximately 57 pills were missing from the 100-count Aspirin bottle. The juvenile was placed on a 72-hour detention for evaluation and treatment.
8. Around 2:54 p.m., an officer conducted a records check on a vehicle parked at the Westfield Santa Anita mall, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, and discovered it had expired registration. As the officer approached the vehicle, he detected a 2013 sticker on the license plate. The 21-year-old Black male was cited for the listed violations and released in the field without incident.
Thursday, September 5:
9. At about 7 a.m., an officer was dispatched to an apartment complex in the 000 block of Genoa Street regarding a garage fire. Arcadia Fire responded to the scene and put out the fire, which started inside the engine compartment of a parked vehicle. No injuries were reported and the exact cause of the fire was unknown at the time of the report.
10. At approximately 11:21 p.m., an officer responded to the 1500 block of South Cambury Road regarding an attempted residential burglary report. The victim discovered unknown suspect(s) broke her kitchen window, but were unable to make entry. No evidence or witnesses were located.
Friday, September 6:
11. Just after midnight, an officer responded to solo traffic collision at the intersection of Huntington Drive and Baldwin Avenue. As the driver attempted a left turn onto Huntington Drive, he lost control of his vehicle and collided with the sidewalk. Upon contact with the 29-year-old Hispanic male driver, the officer smelt a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his breath and person. An investigation revealed he had a blood alcohol content greater than 0.08 percent, expired registration, and was displaying a false registration sticker. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
12. At about 2:30 p.m., an officer was dispatched to Coco’s parking lot, 1150 West Colorado Boulevard, in regards to a suspicious circumstances report. A UPS driver reported that an unknown vehicle occupied with three Hispanic male adults was following him on his delivery route for twenty to thirty minutes. He recorded the license plate before losing sight of the vehicle described as a late 1990’s model Gold Lincoln Navigator with chrome wheels.
Saturday, September 7:
13. Around 2:32 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Las Tunas Drive and El Monte Avenue for driving with no lights. The officer discovered the 43-year-old Hispanic female driver was under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol content greater than 0.08 percent. She was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
14. At approximately 7:10 p.m., an officer was dispatched to Sephora at the Westfield Santa Anita mall, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, in regards to a theft report. A 23-year-old Black male concealed merchandise inside a purse and exited the store without making payment. He ran through the parking lot and was detained by officers on Huntington Drive. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
