The Wilderness Park Project was undertaken by John Panatier, Arcadia’s Recreation Director from 1955 to 1970. Mr. Panatier believed that Arcadia should have a place where folks could hike, camp overnight, learn about nature and enjoy its beauty. The project became a reality in 1958, and the Park includes the Panatier Nature Center.
