For the past few weeks, a string of lights in the neighborhood near Golden West and Colorado have been out and some or all of you have received complaints from the residents. This area is part of our 6.6V system, which is a bit like the old Christmas tree lights – if one light fails, the entire string goes out. This is very outdated technology and we have spent the last decade coming up with ever more creative ways to keep the system going when parts are no longer manufactured. The latest issue requires SoCal Edison support to “de-energize” the streetlights in the area while we work on the problem. SCE has been non-responsive to our requests to date, so the repairs have been delayed. We will continue to urge SCE to work with us, but we cannot make repairs while the power is on.
