STAFF CONFIRMS NUMBER OF VOTERS DELAYED DUE TO MAP 115 (V. 5)

The issue of voters being shifted from one district to another and not being able to vote in the 2022 election was discussed on Tuesday night during the Redistricting hearing. At that time, Mayor Tay estimated about 4,000 voters that would experience this shift and have their opportunity to vote delayed.

Staff reached out to NDC to get an official tally:

Here is their response regarding the latest version of Map 115 (Version 5): In Arcadia, Districts 2, 3 and 5 are scheduled to hold elections in 2022. A voter is delayed if that voter is moved from one of those districts to either District 1 or 4, as 1 and 4 will not hold elections until 2024.

In Plan 115 (Version 5), 2,920 registered voters are delayed (9.03% of all registered voters). 2,439 registered voters move from current District 3 to new District 4, while 481 registered voters move from current District 5 to new District 1. The registered voter counts are all from the California Statewide Database's estimates of registered voters at the time of the 2020 General (November) election.
