ARBORETUM TO DREDGE BALDWIN LAKE THIS FALL

As part of a larger rehabilitation project, LA County Public Works will be dredging Baldwin Lake at the Arboretum, from September to December 2026. This is intended to aesthetically restore the lake but will also provide better stormwater capture and help water usage at the facility.

The work will impact City streets slightly, as trucks will be hauling the silt from the lake and taking it to proper dump sites (generally east of the City). Trucks will exit the facility from 7am - 4pm, with 10 trucks per hour during the dredging/hauling period. Trucks will exit the site at the light on Baldwin and head north to the Freeway.

The County has a webpage dedicated to the work:

The site includes an FAQ:

The biggest impact may be from the staging area on the large lawn, which can be visible from the street. We can probably expect rumors and questions about new developments at the Arboretum. The County has held outreach meetings already and are planning another at the end of this month.
