Rose Parade speaker CalRTA

What goes on behind the scenes at the annual Pasadena Rose Parade? Who chooses the theme, the bands, the float designs?  The perfect person to answer these questions and other inquiries is Michael Riffey, a Life Director on the Tournament of Roses Board of Directors, and former Tournament of Roses President.

Michael Riffey will be guest speaker on Friday, April 9, at the 11:30 a.m. luncheon meeting of the California Retired Teachers’Association #71 (CalRTA).  The group meets at the Senior Center Building in Arcadia Park, 405 W. Santa Anita Avenue, Arcadia, next to the Lawn Bowling Greens.

Riffey will draw from his illustrated book titled “More Than a Parade” to  share with his audience information about the hard work, drama, and fun that all contribute to making the Tournament of Roses a success. Guests are welcome to come enjoy the luncheon and the presentation.

The cost of the luncheon for members and guests is $10. To make reservations, please call John Gera at (626) 286-0714 by Friday, April 2. Membership in the California Retired Teachers’ Association is open to all retired educators, as well as to any others interested in joining.
