Recreation & Community Services Staff completed the annual CPR review on Wednesday,
July 23. The Recreation and Community Services Department rolled up their sleeves and
jumped into a dynamic refresher course covering CPR, AED, First Aid, and Bloodborne
Pathogens. The training was led by seasoned instructors, Recreation Supervisors, Gina
Hernandez and Annie Sumioka, who bring a wealth of experience from teaching countless
lifeguarding and CPR/First Aid courses. Staff engaged in hands-on CPR drills, reviewed
emergency response to sudden illnesses and musculoskeletal injuries, and reinforced
protocols for protecting themselves from bloodborne pathogens. With programs that serve
both youth and seniors, the department places a high priority on safety. This annual review
ensures that staff stay confident, prepared, and ready to act when it matters most, because
in our line of work, staying sharp can save lives.
