SENIOR LUNCH PROGRAM

Seniors enjoy stopping by the Community Center not just to have lunch, but to see their friends, meet new people, and socialize. The monthly menu includes lasagna, chicken tacos, fish, stuffed bell pepper, and the all-time favorite, meatloaf! Every meal comes with fresh fruit, salad, vegetables, milk, and dessert. A total of 210 lunch meals were served during the week of October 25. SENIOR CLASSES During the week of October 25, walk-in and virtual classes had 365 students registered. Classes include Pilates, Cardio, Fit for Life, Intermediate Line Dance, Zumba and many more. GIFT SHOP The Gift Shop is open Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 10am to 1pm. During the week of October 25, there were 34 shoppers and sales of $191. BOO BASH On October 29, 66 seniors attended the Annual Boo Bash event at the Arcadia Community Center. Participants were dressed up in fun costumes. There were games, raffles, and prizes for most creative, scariest, most original, and best couple costume contest. Senior Commissioner Michael Cao stopped by to say hello to everyone, helped with the event, and joined in on all the fun!

HALLOWEEN HAUNTING EVENT On October 29, the Recreation and Community Services Department in collaboration with Downtown Arcadia Improvement Association hosted the Halloween Haunting event in Downtown Arcadia. There were game booths, crafts, and candy at the event.

ARCADIA RECEIVES ADDITIONAL PREVENTION AND DIVERSION GRANT FUNDS The San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments released a grant opportunity for cities who were interested in additional Prevention and Diversion Grant Funds. In order to qualify, the cities must have spent their initial Prevention and Diversion Grant Funds. The City of Arcadia initially partnered with the City of La Canada Flintridge, each City was eligible for $15,000, with a cumulative total to $30,000. The City with the greater need could spend more of the funds. The City of Arcadia spent all of the $30,000. The City of Arcadia received a $12,000 Prevention and Diversion Grant which needs to be expended by December 15, 2021. The City will continue to partner with Union Station Homeless Services to allocate the funds to our residents in need.
