Recreation and Community Services Weekly Report

SENIOR EVENT On Friday, October 1, the sold-out BOO BINGO Event was held at the Community Center. Participants enjoyed 8 games of Bingo. The event included gift card prizes to local businesses. A light lunch, refreshments, and a goodie bag were included. Participants couldn’t wait to sign up for the next upcoming senior event on October 15.


SENIOR CLASSES During the week of September 27 – October 1, virtual classes had 83 students registered. Virtual classes include Pilates, Cardio, Fit for Life, and Intermediate Line Dance. WEEKLY MOVIE On Wednesday, September 29, the movie Night at the Museum played for 10 viewers. LAWN SIGNS FOR VETERANS The City of Arcadia would like to honor, recognize, and thank our local Veterans with lawn signs. If interested, please contact Gina Hernandez at 626.821.4328

A total of 258 lunch meals were served during the week of September 27 – October 1. Seniors are enjoying meals such as lasagna, chicken tacos, fish, stuffed pepper, and their all-time favorite, meatloaf! Every meal comes with fresh fruit, salad, vegetables, milk, and dessert.

AFTER SCHOOL PLAYGROUNDS PROGRAM

The Afterschool Playgrounds Program is a free program offered for youth in grades K-5. The program is held at six Arcadia elementary school sites and currently filled to capacity with 180 participants. A variety of activities are offered every week to keep participants entertained.

The Department is happy to announce the promotion of Karen Collins from Office Assistant to Administrative Assistant. Karen will continue to work at the Recreation Office front desk with Assistant Director, Candice Cheung as her direct supervisor. Bani Antonacci has been promoted from Administrative Assistant to Senior Administrative Assistant and is now working at the Community Center front desk with Director, Sara Somogyi as her supervisor. Congratulations to both!
