UPDATED YOUTH SPORTS PROTOCOLS The County of Los Angeles Department of Public Health updated the Youth Sports Protocols effective September 1, 2021. Currently, with the high COVID-19 community transmission rate, LA County is requiring routine testing for all athletes and staff participating in moderate or high-risk organized youth sports which includes but not limited to baseball, soccer, and basketball, volleyball, and football. Local Youth Sports user groups have addressed their concern and inability to regulate and enforce weekly testing and are seeking possible waivers from LA County. On Wednesday, Recreation Directors in Los Angeles County met with representatives from Public Health to express the impact weekly testing will have on organized youth sports but the protocols are still in effect as of today. Due to this recent update of Youth Sports Protocols, the Arcadia Recreation and Community Services Youth Volleyball Program will be cancelled this season.
