Major changes being planned to ease the congestion due to the chaotic confluence of the 57 and 60 freeways will be the topic at the monthly Arcadia Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Forum at 8 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 6, at the Chamber office, 388 W. Huntington Dr. The Honorable Tim Spohn, City Councilman from the City of Industry, will provide specific plans to make the freeway interchange safer and more efficient, which should be of interest for businesses and individuals who use those freeways for deliveries and for traveling to destinations from the San Gabriel Valley to Orange County and parts south. The 57/60 Confluence Project is the initial phase of improvements designed to significantly reduce the weaving by the use of collector/distributor lanes. Spohn will also answer questions from attendees at the forum which, as always, is free and open to the public. Please rsvp to 626-447-2159 as space is limited.

Spohn has served on the City Council of Industry since 2007, having been appointed to the Council after 33 years in transportation with Vons. He currently is the City of Industry representative on the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments Transportation Committee, and represents the San Gabriel Valley to the SCAG Transportation Committee. He is also the Alameda Corridor East Board Chairman and the City of Industry’s spokesperson for the 57/60 Confluence Project.

The monthly one-hour forums, held on the first Thursday of each month in the Chamber conference room at 388 W. Huntington Drive (round building in the media at Holly Avenue) also include reports from representatives from the City of Arcadia, Los Angeles County, our state Senator and Assemblymen, and federal Representative, as well as frequent updates from representatives of the Gold Line Foothill Extension Authority.
