Peach Blossom Festival

Sixty-eight years ago, on March 26, 1949, Arcadians celebrated the dedication of a new City Hall with a “Peach Blossom Festival” and included a full day of activities: a parade, a picnic and finally, a Ball. The Arcadia Chamber of Commerce undertook the Festival to provide a day that would appeal to the residents of Arcadia and offer them a day of relaxation and entertainment in their own hometown.

From the program: “It would provide activities for all age groups throughout the day and would give public spirited citizens an opportunity to participate in the day’s program by lending their aid in various ways for the benefit of all.

It would better acquaint all the residents one with the other to thereby promote a better and more united community spirit and pride in their city.”
