Operation School Bell party

Assistance League of Arcadia‘s 40th anniversary celebration of its philanthropic Operation School Bell program on March 9 attracted dozens of supporters, many of which are the city’s primary influencers and most active residents.

The program has assisted more than 23,000 children in need with clothes and supplies since 1970.

ALA and Las Alas and Assisteens hosted the Open House at its chapter house at 100 South Santa Anita Ave. and provided tours of the back building that is set up like a department store for kids to “shop” and pick out clothing, as shown in the brief video highlights below. Operation School Bell provides new clothing, including a warm jacket, a hooded sweatshirt, underwear, shirts, pants, shoes, backpacks, hygiene kits, and books to disadvantaged school children. During the past year, Operation School Bell clothed more than 1,200 children throughout the San Gabriel Valley, including Arcadia, Monrovia, Duarte, Temple City, Alhambra, and Rosemead. Children are pre-identified through arrangements made with local schools and counselors.
