NO FIREWORKS AT THIS YEAR’S PATRIOTIC FESTIVAL

After much consideration and discussion among the Executive Team, City have made the determination that we cannot comfortably approve a major fireworks show in the Downtown this summer. While fire damage in Arcadia was thankfully limited, given the significant loss of property and life in Altadena and Pasadena just a few months ago, it seems especially

insensitive to host a fireworks show in the immediate area during the fire season. We have heard that Pasadena has also cancelled its planned 4th of July fireworks display at the Rose Bowl for similar reasons. We have relayed our decision to the Downtown Arcadia Improvement Association; while they were understandably disappointed, they have pivoted to

planning for a patriotic drone show at the event instead. Given the late date of the fireworks cancellation, the DAIA may lose a deposit they placed with the fireworks company. We have told the DAIA that we will work with them on reducing some of our public safety charges to help offset the loss if that happens.
