News from East Meets West parent education club

On June 3rd, East Meets West Parent Education Club (EMWPEC) sponsored a concert organized by two students, Melvin Adams and Phoebe Pan, at the Villa Gardens Retirement Community in Pasadena. The concert was a tremendous success, with not just many senior residents attending, but also had many families attending as well. The audience enjoyed the performances presented by various young artists of different backgrounds, ranging from classical concerto to Chinese yo-yo.

EMWPEC has sponsored four charity concerts since 2016, which not only do these performances improve the confidence and self-esteem of the young artists, but also provide a fantastic opportunity for providing community service hours for high schoolers at these retirement communities. EMWPEC focuses on positive education for parents and leadership training for students, and they will be hosting various events throughout this summer, including dinner service for the homeless at the Union Station Homeless Center on June 23rd, Independence Day fireworks and picnic at Lacy Park, San Marino on July 4th, a student tour to Jet Propulsion Laboratory on July 11th, and finally, a bike tour in mid-August.
