NEW WATER WELL APPROVED BY STATE

Every new water well in California must be approved by the State’s Division of Drinking Water to ensure that the well is designed appropriately and that it will not negatively affect water supplies regionally. We have a joint well with Sierra Madre planned to be constructed at the Public Works Services Yard, which will be known as the Goldring Well.

We received word this week that the Division of Drinking Water has approved our application following a site inspection in January and review of our plans for the site. The well will get its water from the Main San Gabriel Basin in an area that has been highly reliable for us over the years. The review by the state did note several locations where contamination exists in the area; this was known to us and the well designs include water treatment equipment to remove the known contaminants. Nevertheless, the State has found that the propose site exceeds the minimum required distances from potential problematic sites and will not interfere with sewers or storm drains in the area. This approval is a key step in our design efforts and this will allow us to proceed to the construction phase soon.
