Mirai tries for Olympics

Arcadia’s Mirai Nagasu will try for a spot on the U.S. Olympic team Jan. 20 – 23 in Spokane, Wash.

Mirai Nagasu of Arcadia, 2008 National Ladies Figure Skating gold-medal champion, tries to repeat and earn spot on Olympics team Jan. 23.

Mirai, who was the U.S. National Ladies Gold Medal Figure Skating Champion in 2008, will be skating for that title again at the 2010 AT&T U.S. Figure Skating Championships, or at least one of only two spots on the American team at the Winter Olympics next month a little further north in Vancouver.

Three daily practices six days a week forced Mirai to leave classes at Arcadia High School recently and take online courses in between her practices in El Segundo.
