Mayor wants input about homes

Mayor Peter Amundson is seeking input from Arcadia residents about how to control the design and size of new homes in Arcadia.

A special session of the City Council will be held the morning of Feb. 14 to discuss homes in Arcadia. In most areas of Arcadia there are no homeowners associations to dictate a uniformity of size and design of homes. So it’s up to the City to try to create standards to please all.

These are some of the questions being considered:

  1. Are homes too large?

  2. Should we have more stringent review?

  3. Should neighbor compatibility be an issue?

  4. Should Arcadia have a FAR (Floor Area Ratio) that limits the size of home that can be build in a portion of the City?

  5. Would landscaping or more set-backs do the trick?

  6. While these questions are easy, the answers are not.

Mayor Peter Amundson is seeking input, which you can e-mail to keeparcadiagreat@aol.com.
