Library reading successes

Summer Reading Programs at the Arcadia Public Library were an even bigger success this year than last year with 64 teens, 102 adults, and a whopping 1,880 children participating, according to Library and Museum Services director Carolyn Garner-Reagan.

The multiple summer Make a Splash reading programs that ended July 31 resulted in a nearly 18% increase in participation among kids this summer who combined to read nearly 8% more collective hours — 27,419 — than the 25,615 read last year by 1,599 children.

While the number of participating teens remained the same, adult participants were up by nearly 16% from 88 last year to 102 this summer.
