LA28 COMMUNITY MEETING UPDATE - from City Manager

The big activity this week was the community meeting hosted by Santa Anita Park and LA28 last night to review the proposed cross-country course and associated tree removals. The meeting was well attended, with about 150 people coming. While the majority seemed to be from cities outside of Arcadia, there were many residents in attendance. Editorially, I will say that the presentation was less than ideal, which made an already tough meeting worse. There remains a lot of confusion about where the course goes and what alternatives were looked at and the presenters didn’t help themselves by not being able/willing to answer many of the crowd’s questions. After the meeting, LA28 and Santa Anita Park indicated to me that they will be reviewing their options in the coming days. I expect that they will ask us to pause our review of their application while they develop updated designs that reduce the number of lost trees. That’s just a guess at this point though. Below are some new reports related to the meeting last night.
