Illuminate the subterranean secrets of the world of fungi!


Saturday, February 3rd 10:00 am – 12:00 pm Instructor: Jerry Turney These mysterious fungal networks thrive right beneath our feet, and act as major catalysts of ecosystem change.  Learn to discern the major fungi species found in Southern California, their common locations, and which kinds are safe to eat!  The lecture will conclude with a walk around the Arboretum to view some of our wild specimens. Dr. Jerrold Turney has served as the curator of the camellia gardens at the Huntington Library and Botanic Gardens, a research horticulturist at the Los Angeles County Arboretum, and is currently the plant pathologist for the Department of Agricultural Commissioner/Weights and Measures for the County of Los Angeles.
