Golden West & Sunset – 1925

Looking west down Sunset Blvd. from Golden West after a rainstorm, one can see the rural nature of this section of the city. A newspaper article at this time noted that a goat farm on Golden West was considered a nuisance by the neighbors. A record of 20.87 inches of rain was received in 1925-26, followed by 28.54 inches the next season. Flood control was discussed, but no action was taken. It was not until after World War II that solving the flooding following rainstorms would became a priority.
