The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the

week of August 17 – 23, 2025. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this period:

Sunday, August 17

At 1:04 a.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to the 400 block of

South Santa Anita Avenue for a person down. Fire personnel arrived to find a 73-

year-old female suffering from weakness and nausea. The patient received advanced

life support protocols, including intravenous therapy, cardiac monitoring, blood

glucose testing, medications, and was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for

further care.

Monday, August 18

At 12:30 p.m., Engine 106, Rescue Ambulance 106, and BLS 106 responded to a

medical incident in the 1000 block of Hugo Reid Drive. Upon arrival, fire personnel

found an 8-year-old male with an allergic reaction with symptoms including hives

covering his body with the cause unknown. The patient received intravenous therapy,

Benadryl to reverse the reaction, and was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for

further care.

Tuesday, August 19

At 7:02 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical incident

in the 400 block of West Duarte Road. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a 72-year-

old female with neurological deficits. The patient received a full medical evaluation,

which included a stroke scale score, intravenous therapy, electrocardiogram, and

was transported to a comprehensive stroke center for further care.

Wednesday, August 20

At 4:35 p.m., Engine 107, Rescue Ambulance 105, and BLS 106 responded to a two-

vehicle traffic collision at the intersection of Foothill Boulevard and Santa Anita

Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel found four patients with multi-system trauma

complaints. All patients received full trauma assessments, but all declined further

care.

Thursday, August 21

At 5:27 p.m., Engine 105 and Engine 37 responded to a reported

vehicle fire on the westbound 210 Freeway at Baldwin Avenue. Fire

personnel arrived to find a fully involved vehicle fire. One hose line

was deployed to extinguish the fire in the area of origin. No injuries

were reported during this incident.








Friday, August 22

At 8:56 p.m., Engine 106, Engine 105, Truck 105, Rescue Ambulance 105, and

Battalion 105 responded to a reported traffic collision on the freeway with a person

trapped. Fire personnel arrived and found a three-vehicle traffic collision involving

five total occupants, with the trapped person self-extricating prior to arrival. Twopatients received advanced life support protocols and were transported to USC

Arcadia Hospital for further care.


Saturday, August 23

At 11:41 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to the 500 block of

Longden Avenue for a requested medical evaluation. Fire personnel arrived to find a

70-year-old female that was frightened. Upon further investigation, it was discovered

that a possible person in the area caused this upset. Arcadia Police Department was

requested to investigate the claim and to ensure safety in the area.

Jerry Broadwell 50th Anniversary Memorial Ceremony

August 22 marked the 50th anniversary of Captain Broadwell’s1 death while fighting

a fire in the line of duty. To honor his heroicism, a memorial ceremony was held at

Headquarters Station 105.

More than 80 people were in attendance, including city employees, city council

members, retired fire personnel, and fire personnel from other cities.

The program included the National Anthem performed by our very own

Firefighter/Paramedic Michael Thomas, a bell ceremony, and heartfelt remarks given

by Retired Fire Chief Gerald Gardner, Retired Fire Captain David Wilson, and a

member of Arcadia Firefighters’ Association.
