Fire Department Weekly Report

The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of January 22 – 28, 2023. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this time period:

Sunday, January 22 At 10:20 a.m., Truck 105, Engine 41, Rescue Ambulance 41, Urban Search and Rescue 32, and Battalion 105 responded to a rescue call on Bailey Canyon Trail in Sierra Madre. The patient was reported to be approximately one mile up the trail. Upon arrival, fire personnel found an injured female patient with ankle deformity. The patient needed assistance down the hill from fire and rescue personnel. Once the rescue operation was complete, the patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital.


Monday, January 23 At 12:05 a.m., Truck 105 and Engine 105 responded to the 900 block of South Santa Anita Avenue for a reported water issue. Fire crews arrived to find a fire hydrant that had been sheared off during a traffic collision. Investigation revealed no injuries or patients. Firefighters worked quickly to shut down the water system in the area; however, flooding in nearby structures had already occurred. Fire crews worked with submersible pumps, water vacuums, and squeegees to remove water from the flooded structures. Tuesday, January 24 At 8:33 a.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to the 700 block of South Santa Anita Avenue for a reported automobile versus pedestrian accident. Paramedics initiated patient care for a 15-year-old female that was struck while riding a scooter. The patient was experiencing minor distress and was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Wednesday, January 25 At 12:47 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical incident in the 100 block of North First Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a 36-year-old male with agonal respirations and altered level of consciousness. Fire personnel performed a full medical evaluation and identified the patient was suffering from an overdose. Paramedics quickly administered Narcan to reverse the effects of the overdose and provided an electrocardiogram, intravenous access, and blood glucose check. The patient became agitated and police officers were called to assist with restraining the patient. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Thursday, January 26 At 4:18 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical incident in the 400 block of Rolyn Place. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a 24-year-old female in active labor. Fire personnel placed the patient in a left lateral position and provided a complete set of vital signs, electrocardiogram, blood glucose check, and intravenous access. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital and directly to the labor and delivery unit.

Friday, January 27 At 4:36 p.m., Truck 105 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a report of a medical incident in the 700 block of West Naomi Avenue. Upon arrival, there was a 41-year-old patient with a complaint of back pain from a six- to eight-foot fall from a ladder. Fire personnel performed a full medical evaluation which included intravenous access, blood pressure, and electrocardiogram. The patient was transported to San Gabriel ValleyMedical Center for further evaluation and treatment. Saturday, January 28 At 6:35 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a report of a medical patient in the 1300 block of South Eighth Avenue. Upon arrival, there was a 95-year-old patient with an altered level of consciousness and possible sepsis. Fire personnel performed a full medical evaluation which included intravenous access, blood pressure, and electrocardiogram. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
