Cuccia /Quint House Honored as Arcadia’s First Historic Landmark

On Sunday June 16, the Arcadia Historical Society unveiled a bronze plaque on the front of the Cuccia/Quint Educational Building on the grounds of the Our Savior Lutheran Church.

This family residence was build by Peter Cuccia in 1919 at 526 Duarte Road. About this same time, Peter planted a 60 acre peach orchard that extended from Lovell Avenue east to Holly and south to Norman Avenue. He was the developer of businesses along the east side of Baldwin Avenue south of Duarte Road in the 1920’s. This development set the stage for the West Arcadia Business District. In November 1921, Peter was appointed to serve on the City Council until April 1922. Cuccia family members were involved in many civic and community activities, particularly daughter Minnie, who died in Arcadia in 1987 at the age of 82.

The church has maintained the original integrity of the building over the years, and the pride of ownership is evident inside and out.
