The California Board of Forestry and Fire Protection has released the 2026 Fire Risk Reduction Community List (FRRCL), recognizing 118 local agencies that have demonstrated leadership in wildfire planning and community risk reduction. Arcadia has been recognized on the list. The FRRCL identifies local governments located within Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zones (VHFHSZ) that meet California’s best practices for local fire planning. Some of these practices include home hardening education, defensible space assessments, and passing strict vegetation management codes. The FRRCL serves an important role in California’s wildfire resilience framework.

Communities included on the list receive priority consideration for CAL FIRE Wildfire Prevention Grant funding. The designation also helps local governments coordinate regional wildfire strategies and improve access to resources. Kudos to everyone in the Fire Department, but special kudos go out to Fire Marshal Mark Krikorian for leading these fire prevention efforts!
