Circus Vargas in Arcadia

Circus Vargas ends its first 12-day run in the parking lot of Santa Anita Park in Arcadia on Monday, having canceled only one show during the wind storm this past week.


Several hundred people attended the second matinee show of the afternoon on Saturday, Dec. 3, including about a dozen members, friends and family of the Arcadia Chamber of Commerce.

Chamber President Bob Hoffman was the honorary ringmaster and his son Julius nearly stole the spotlight a few minutes later when he volunteered for a clown act in which the young lad donned a blonde wig and glasses and did an admirable interpretation of Justin Bieber dancing.

Circus representatives say the current run has been a success and they hope to return next year.
