Big Band concert April 24

Orchestra students from Arcadia High School and others in the area will perform in a big band concert of the music of Harry Warren at the Ambassador Auditorium in Pasadena on Saturday, April 24 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.


The program called “Harry Who?” by the  Theaters of Vision All Star Community Orchestra (TOVASCO) and a large and talented cast is the second annual non-profit event for which a portion of ticket sales benefit the music departments of schools and colleges in the San Gabriel Valley.

The live stage musical production at 131 S. St. John Ave. in Pasadena is presented by The Ambassador Foundation (AF), and Theaters of Vision Productions (TOVP).

Ticket prices range from $15.00-$40.00, with discounts areavailable for children, seniors and groups.

With more than 800 published songs and several Academy Awards, Harry Warren music written for classic films produced by Paramount, MGM, Fox and Warners during the 30’s & 40’s, has been heard throughout the world. Among his many enduring songs are “At Last,” “42nd Street,” “Shuffle Off to Buffalo,” “You Must Have Been a Beautiful Baby,” “We’re in the Money,” “Jeepers Creepers,” “Chattanooga Choo Choo,” and “I Only Have Eyes for You.”


The TOVASCO orchestra and cast, founded by Lani Ridley Pedrini, will perform many of Harry Warren’s numbers in true big band style to the arrangements of Glen Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, and Benny Goodman, among others, highlighting classic films, the war years and famous Hollywood personalities.

The Ambassador Foundation, which provides the venue that has been called “The Carnegie Hall of the West,” has been in Pasadena since May 14, 2004, uses a portion of net proceeds from events at the Ambassador Auditorium to support and benefit it’s ongoing building fund for maintenance and reparation.

Supporting our local talent with a professional performing experience, giving back to the orchestra / music departments of the participating schools and colleges, providing a beautiful venue in which to perform, and reaching out into the community with a spectacular show, is what we are all about!
