Arthritis Foundation’s California Coast Classic Bicycle Tour

About 50 days from now we, John and Shinju Morris, begin our third 525 mile bicycle tour from San Francisco to Los Angeles for this year’s Arthritis Foundation’s California Coast Classic Bicycle Tour. Shinju suffers from one form of rheumatoid arthritis and its complications. It is our personal mission to raise money to find a cure for arthritis. We invite you to support us again this year in our efforts to help fight the number one cause of disability in the United States. There are 53 million Americans, including 300,000 children, that are affected by this debilitating disease, costing our nation over $128 billion annually. Did you know more children suffer from the devastating effects of Arthritis than Juvenile Diabetes, Cystic Fibrosis, Cerebral Palsy and Muscular Dystrophy combined? The California Coast Classic Bicycle Tour is a group of volunteers from all over the United States and a few foreign countries who commit to train for and complete the 525 mile tour to raise funds for arthritis patient services, research and educational information. Each one of us has a fundraising commitment and goal, and then must find sponsors to make donations to reach that goal. We have committed to raise $3,300 each for the Arthritis Foundation’s California Coast Classic Bicycle Tour for 2016. With the help of many friends, family members, and business associates, we have raised a bit more than $1600 each to date. However, we still need your help to reach our $3300 fundraising commitment. As the only national, nonprofit health organization dedicated solely to fighting arthritis, the Arthritis Foundation relies on the support of generous individuals like you to provide funds that will support programs and services to those affected by arthritis. A medical test earlier this year required that Shinju not take her arthritis medication for about a week. It was during that week that she had renewed appreciation for all that arthritis research has done. “I felt and moved like I was a 90 year old in a lot of pain.” Thanks to consistent medical care, several prescription medications, and physical activity, Shinju considers herself one of the lucky ones whose symptoms are manageable and able to ride on behalf of others who cannot make this journey. You can make a donation on one of the links below.
