For the period of Sunday, February 15th through Saturday, February 21st, the Police Department responded to 870 calls for service, of which 104 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the incidents handled by the Department during this period.
Sunday, February 15:
At approximately 8:52 a.m., an officer responded to a business in the 100 block of
North Santa Anita Avenue regarding a fraud report. The victim discovered he
suffered a large monetary loss. An investigation revealed the suspect may be a close
acquaintance. The investigation is ongoing.
Monday, February 16:
At approximately 8:11 a.m., an officer responded to Arcadia Service Center, located
at 40 East Duarte Road, regarding a grand theft report. An investigation revealed
someone entered a secure area and stole various engine parts and copper wire.Tuesday,
February 17:
At approximately 10:46 a.m., an officer responded to the 00 block of La Porte Street
regarding a petty theft report. Sometime during the previous night, someone stole a
community commercial mailbox. It is unknown if mail was stolen.
Wednesday, February 18:
At approximately 8:34 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 400 block of
Diamond Street regarding a fraud investigation. The officer discovered someone
fraudulently accessed the victim’s Prize Picks account and withdrew money via
Venmo. The victim does not know how the person accessed their account or their
identity.
Thursday, February 19:
At approximately 11:04 p.m., an officer responded to the 1300 block of South Baldwin
Avenue regarding a vehicle burglary incident. Sometime between 7:15 p.m. and 10:00
p.m., an unidentified suspect entered the locked vehicle by unknown means and
stole the victim’s laptop from the front seat.
Friday, February 20:
At approximately 10:22 p.m., an officer responded to the parking lot of The Shops at
Santa Anita, located at 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a stolen vehicle report.
The victim stated their Kia Optima was stolen from the parking lot between 9:30 p.m.
and 10:22 p.m.
Saturday, February 21:
At approximately 2:05 p.m., an officer responded to Sunglass Hut, at 400 South
Baldwin Avenue, regarding a grand theft incident. Surveillance footage captured two
suspects stealing three pairs of designer sunglasses. They are described as Black
females, both approximately 25 to 30-years-old, wearing sweatshirts.
