For the period of Sunday, September 14th through Saturday, September 20th, the
Police Department responded to 997 calls for service, of which 114 required formal
investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the incidents handled by the Department during this period.
Sunday, September 14:
At approximately 1:51 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 100 block of
Diamond Street regarding a burglary report. Surveillance cameras captured a lone
male suspect ransacking the home. The suspect fled with designer watches and
handbags.
Monday, September 15:
At approximately 5:53 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 100 block of
Alta Street regarding a grand theft incident. Sometime between 4:00 p.m. and 5:53
p.m., someone broke into the victim’s carport and stole miscellaneous items.
Tuesday, September 16:
At approximately 10:29 a.m., an officer responded to USC Arcadia Hospital regarding
a forgery incident. The officer discovered the suspect, a patient at the hospital,
presented a forged medical document to receive an unauthorized medical
procedure. The suspect is a 62-year-old female from Arcadia. The case is ongoing.
Wednesday, September 17:
At approximately 7:04 p.m., an officer responded to Vons, located at 745 West Naomi
Avenue, regarding a theft from vehicle report. The victim stated an unidentified male
suspect stole her backpack from the passenger seat while she was seated inside her
vehicle. The suspect is described as a Black male who fled in a black Mercedes-Benz.
Thursday, September 18:
At approximately 10:21 a.m., an officer responded to the 800 block of West Foothill
Boulevard regarding a burglary investigation. The officer determined unidentified
suspect(s) stole appliances and copper wiring from the home under construction.
Friday, September 19:
At approximately 6:33 p.m., an officer responded to the front counter of the Arcadia
Police Department regarding a fraud investigation. The victim stated suspects
contacted her under the guise of AT&T representatives and they informed her that she
needed to contact Chinese Police Authority to resolve a Chinese Restraining Order
issue. During the communication, the suspects convinced the victim to transfer a large
sum of money and to provide bank statements to avoid further issues. The victim
complied. The suspects then coordinated to drop off a letter in person to the victim.
The suspect is described as an Asian male, approximately 35-years-old, with a medium
build. The investigation is ongoing.
Saturday, September 20:
At approximately 9:48 p.m., an officer responded to the intersection of Foothill
Boulevard and Second Avenue regarding a traffic collision between two parked
vehicles and a moving vehicle. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a
strong odor of alcohol emitting from his breath. Through a series of tests, the officer
determined the suspect was driving with a blood alcohol content of .138. The 49-
year-old male from Monrovia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail
for booking.
