For the period of Sunday, October 19th through Saturday, October 25th, the Police Department responded to 960 calls for service, of which 105 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the incidents handled by the Department during this period.
Sunday, October 19:
At approximately 4:06 p.m., an officer responded to the 100 block of West Huntington
Drive regarding a solo vehicle traffic collision. Upon contacting the driver, the officer
detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his breath. A preliminary alcohol
screening device determined the 59-year-old male from Fontana was driving with a
blood alcohol content of .31%. The driver was arrested and transported to the
Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Monday, October 20:
At approximately 1:04 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 100 block of
West Floral Avenue regarding a mail theft report. Sometime between October 8th and
the 18th, someone stole the victim’s mail from their mailbox.
Tuesday, October 21:
At approximately 9:05 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1000 block of
Portola Drive regarding a residential burglary investigation. The officer discovered
unknown suspect(s) smashed a rear sliding glass door and ransacked the home. The
suspect(s) fled with jewelry, cash, and handbags.
Wednesday, October 22:
At approximately 12:54 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1100 block
of West Foothill Boulevard regarding a robbery report. An investigation revealed four
suspects entered the home, held the victims at gunpoint, and demanded their
property. The suspects battered one of the victims and then stole the victim’s car.
The investigation is ongoing.
Thursday, October 23:
At approximately 8:39 a.m., an officer responded to Du Tax and Accounting Inc.,
located at 236 East Foothill Boulevard regarding a commercial burglary report. The
officer determined unknown suspect(s) forced open a patio door and stole debit
cards. The suspect was then captured on surveillance footage using the ATM.
Friday, October 24:
At approximately 9:59 a.m., an officer responded to Western Rooter & Plumbing,
located at 136 East Santa Clara Street regarding a grand theft incident. An investigation
revealed a former employee, a 31-year-old male from El Monte, failed to return tools
to the company when asked to do so. The total loss is more than $15,000.00. The
investigation is ongoing.
Saturday, October 25:
At approximately 4:50 p.m., an officer responded to 7-Eleven, located at 102 East
Huntington Drive, regarding a battery report. The officer discovered the suspect
stepped on the victim’s foot and proceeded to punch the victim in the back. Both
parties were customers and the altercation may have stemmed from a disagreement
months prior. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 5’9”, 145
pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. The victim did not request medical
attention.
