For the period of Sunday, May 17th, through Saturday, May 23rd, the Police Department responded to 1,073 calls for service, of which 102 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the incidents handled by the Department during this period.
Sunday, May 17:
At approximately 2:52 p.m., an officer responded to Grocery Outlet, located at 140
East Live Oak Avenue, regarding a robbery investigation. After the suspect stole from
the store and entered an awaiting black sedan, the store owner attempted to retrieve
the stolen merchandise by reaching through the window. The suspect vehicle then
fled and dragged the owner into oncoming traffic. The driver is described as a
Hispanic female and the person who entered the store to steal the merchandise is
described as Hispanic male, approximately 6’ tall and 20 to 30-years-old.
Monday, May 18:
At approximately 1:07 p.m., an officer responded to the front counter of the Arcadia
Police Department regarding a fraud report. The victim stated they were contacted
by someone who claimed to work for the FBI and they scammed the victim out of a
large sum of money via Bitcoin and other crypto currencies.
Tuesday, May 19:
At approximately 6:41 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1600 block of
South Santa Anita Avenue regarding a vandalism/arson report. The officer
discovered someone shattered a garage door window and started a fire near the
garage door leaving a large burn mark. The fire caused additional damage to the
home. The incident happened sometime during the previous night.
Wednesday, May 20:
At approximately 11:36 a.m., an officer responded to the 500 block of North First
Avenue regarding a vandalism report. An investigation revealed the suspect
vandalized the victim’s vehicle while he was driving. The suspect, a 47-year-old male
transient, was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Thursday, May 21:
At approximately 5:01 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1600 block of
South Tenth Avenue regarding a burglary investigation. The officer determined two
suspects entered the residence by unknown means and stole a ladder. The suspects
are both described as Hispanic males with thin builds.
Friday, May 22:
At approximately 8:29 p.m., an officer responded to Hilton Arcadia, located at 123 West
Huntington Drive, regarding a robbery report. An investigation revealed three suspects
battered and attempted to rob the victim of Pokemon cards. The suspects fled in a grey
SUV. They are described as black males between 5’8” and 6’ tall. Arcadia Fire responded
to evaluate the victim.
Saturday, May 23:
At approximately 1:37 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 900 block of
Hampton Road regarding a battery report. The victim stated an altercation between
himself and a coworker resulted in the co-worker pushing the victim and spitting in
his face. The suspect is described as an Asian male with an average build; he fled in
a black vehicle.
