Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report - Sunday, March 15th through Saturday, March 21st

For the period of Sunday, March 15th through Saturday, March 21st, the Police

Department responded to 990 calls for service, of which 115 required formal

investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the incidents handled

by the Department during this period.



Sunday, March 15:

At approximately 8:43 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 900 block of

Fairview Avenue regarding a fraud investigation. The victim stated they were alerted

of a suspicious deposit into their bank account. Someone made numerous

suspicious deposits and withdraws from the victim’s account without their

permission. The victim does not know how the suspect(s) obtained their bank

information. The victim did not sustain any financial loss because of the transactions.


Monday, March 16:

At approximately 6:29 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1100 block of

West Duarte Road regarding an aggravated assault report. An investigation revealed

an acquaintance entered the victim’s home, assaulted the victim with a hammer

causing visible injuries, and fled the scene. The victim was transported to a local

medical center for treatment. The suspect is a 40-year-old local male transient.


Tuesday, March 17:

At approximately 12:32 p.m., an officer responded to the 5400 block of Cogswell

Road regarding a theft from vehicle incident. Sometime between 10:48 a.m. and

11:46 a.m., someone entered the victim’s unlocked truck and fled with a laptop and

tools.


Wednesday, March 18:

At approximately 9:36 a.m., an officer responded to The UPS Store, located at 288

East Live Oak Avenue, regarding a vandalism report. The officer discovered someone

threw a can of soda at the store window, causing it to break.


Thursday, March 19:

At approximately 2:37 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Foothill

Boulevard and Michillinda Avenue regarding the notification of a stolen vehicle in the

area. The officers located the vehicle and a pursuit ensued. The suspect ultimately

stopped the vehicle and was taken into custody with the assistance of Monrovia

Police Department. The 39-year-old male from Santa Fe Springs was arrested and

transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. A records check revealed he had an

outstanding felony warrant and was on parole.


Friday, March 20:

At approximately 9:06 a.m., an officer responded to Public Storage, located at 12340

Lower Azusa Road, regarding a commercial burglary report. An investigation revealed

someone forcibly broke into the victim’s storage unit and stole guitar equipment.


Saturday, March 21:

At approximately 10:16 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Sunset

Boulevard and Arcadia Avenue regarding a hit and run traffic collision. The suspect

was located nearby at his residence with the damaged vehicle. Through a series of

tests, the officer determined the driver was driving under the influence of alcohol.

The 22-year-old male from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City

Jail for booking.
