For the period of Sunday, June 1st through Saturday, June 7th, the Police Department responded to 896 calls for service, of which 94 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the incidents handled by the Department during this period.
Sunday, June 1:
At approximately 7:55 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 200 block of South Fifth Avenue regarding a battery investigation. The officer discovered an altercation between a juvenile couple resulted in the male half slapping the female victim. The 17-year-old male from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Monday, June 2:
At approximately 12:11 p.m., an officer responded to the area of 124 North First Avenue regarding the vandalism of several businesses. An investigation revealed a 49-year-old male transient threw rocks at numerous businesses for no apparent reason. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. It was also determined the suspect was in possession of what appeared to be methamphetamine.
Tuesday, June 3:
At approximately 9:28 a.m., an officer responded to the Arcadia Chamber of Commerce, located at 388 West Huntington Drive, regarding a forgery incident. The reporting party was alerted by their bank that someone had attempted to cash two fraudulently altered checks. The checks were rejected, and no loss was incurred. The investigation is ongoing.
Wednesday, June 4:
At approximately 10:38 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 2400 block of Florence Avenue regarding a burglary report. The officer determined unidentified suspect(s) pried open a rear door, took a shower, and slept in the victim’s bed. No additional loss was reported.
Thursday, June 5:
At approximately 9:49 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 800 block of North First Avenue regarding a fraud investigation. The reporting party stated someone initiated the sale of his father’s home without permission from the father. The suspect(s) forged signatures without the owner’s consent.
Friday, June 6:
At approximately 11:19 p.m., an officer responded to the 400 block of South Second Avenue
regarding a traffic collision between a moving vehicle and a parked car. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his person. The driver, a 23-year-old male from Fresno, admitted to consuming alcohol prior to driving. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Saturday, June 7:
At approximately 6:38 p.m., an officer responded to Macy’s, located at 400 South Baldwin
Avenue, regarding a grand theft report. Surveillance footage captured the suspect stealing eight pairs of Versace sunglasses. The suspect is described as a White male wearing a black shirt, grey shorts, and a black hat with a white “LA” logo.
