For the period of Sunday, December 14th through Saturday, December 20th, the Police Department responded to 990 calls for service, of which 126 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the incidents handled
by the Department during this period.
Sunday, December 14:
At approximately 5:32 p.m., an officer responded to Macy’s, located at 400 South
Baldwin Avenue, regarding a grand theft report. Loss prevention staff witnessed the
suspect steal a coffee maker. He is described as a Hispanic male, between 40 and 50-
years-old, with black hair and an average build.
Monday, December 15:
At approximately 7:21 a.m., an officer responded to Chakra Center, located at 2 North
First Avenue, regarding a commercial burglary report. Sometime during the previous
night, someone shattered the front window and stole a crystal amethyst. The
investigation is pending a review of surveillance footage.
Tuesday, December 16:
At approximately 3:31 p.m., an officer responded to the 300 block of West Camino
Real Avenue regarding a mail theft report. An investigation revealed someone stole
mail from two residences. The theft occurred sometime Tuesday, December 16th
.
Wednesday, December 17:
At approximately 6:25 p.m., an officer responded to President’s Square, located at
1230 South Golden West Avenue, regarding a robbery investigation. The officer
discovered the suspect broke the victim’s front passenger window and stole her
purse. The victim grabbed the door handle of the suspect’s vehicle while attempting
to retrieve her property. The suspect accelerated, causing the victim to fall and
sustain visible injuries. The suspect fled in a black SUV. The investigation is ongoing.
Thursday, December 18:
At approximately 7:17 a.m., an officer responded to the area of Huntington Drive and
Michillinda Avenue regarding the notification of a stolen vehicle in the area. Officers
located the vehicle and arrested the 45-year-old male driver, who was from Arcadia.
Friday, December 19:
At approximately 7:52 a.m., an officer responded to Longley Way Elementary School,
located at 2601 Longley Way, regarding a vehicle burglary incident. Sometime between
7:20 a.m. and 7:25 a.m., someone shattered the front driver’s side window and stole
the victim’s lunch bag.
Saturday, December 20:
At approximately 8:38 p.m., an officer responded to a parking lot at The Shops at
Santa Anita, located at 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a robbery investigation.
The officer determined three suspects attempted to forcibly steal a gold chain from
the victim’s neck. The victim was able to hold onto his necklace and the three
suspects fled empty-handed. They are described as two Hispanic males and a third
male.
