For the period of Sunday, April 5th through Saturday, April 11th, the Police Department responded to 921 calls for service, of which 97 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the incidents handled by the Department during this period.
Sunday, April 5:
At approximately 3:19 a.m., an officer initiated contact with a subject riding a bicycle
in a business district, a municipal code violation. A records check of the subject
revealed he had seven outstanding misdemeanor warrants. During a search of his
property prior to an arrest, the officer located methamphetamine. The 46-year-old
male from Alhambra was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for
booking.
Monday, April 6:
At approximately 1:01 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of East
Newman Avenue regarding a suspicious person at the front door. Officers located
the suspect in the backyard with a large rock. A records check of the 38-year-old male
from Los Angeles revealed he had an outstanding warrant and was on parole. The
suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Tuesday, April 7:
At approximately 4:10 p.m., an officer responded to Santa Anita Park, located at 285
West Huntington Drive, regarding a stolen vehicle report. The victim discovered his
black GMC Yukon was stolen from the parking lot sometime between 12:30 p.m. and
2:25 p.m. The victim was in possession of his only car key, so he is unsure how the
vehicle was stolen.
Wednesday, April 8:
At approximately 3:20 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 500 block of
East Norman Avenue regarding a residential burglary report. Surveillance cameras
captured two male suspects jumping over the fence and entering the home through
a rear sliding glass door. The suspects ransacked the home and fled with an unknown
amount of property. The investigation is ongoing.
Thursday, April 9:
At approximately 2:30 a.m., an officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area
of Baldwin Avenue and Arboretum Way for speeding. Upon contacting the driver, the
officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from inside the vehicle. A records
check revealed the 25-year-old female from Fontana was driving with a suspended
license. She was ultimately arrested for driving under the influence and transported
to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Friday, April 10:
At approximately 5:40 p.m., an officer responded to the Arcadia Police Department
front counter regarding a grand theft from person incident that occurred in the Aldi
parking lot, 1403 South Baldwin Avenue. An investigation revealed three suspects
worked in concert to distract the victim and steal a gold bracelet. Two of the suspects
were described as Hispanic females in their 40s, short stature, and heavy set. They fled
in a dark grey sedan.
Saturday, April 11:
At approximately 12:53 p.m., an officer responded to JCPenney, located at 400 South
Baldwin Avenue, regarding a grand theft incident. A review of the surveillance
footage revealed two suspects stole approximately 35 pairs of Levi jeans, valued at a
loss of nearly $2,800.00. Both suspects are described as Hispanic males, with facial
hair. They fled in a yellow Saturn sedan.
