For the period of Sunday, March 22nd through Saturday, March 28th, the Police Department responded to 995 calls for service, of which 90 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the incidents handled by the Department during this period.
Sunday, March 22:
At approximately 8:12 a.m., Arcadia Fire and an officer responded to IHOP, located
at 1113 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding someone lighting clothing on fire behind
the restaurant. The suspect was located nearby and a records check revealed he had
three outstanding warrants. During the arrest, the suspect admitted to being in
possession of heroin. The 38-year-old male transient from Los Angeles was cited and
transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for evaluation. The investigation is ongoing.
Monday, March 23:
At approximately 6:40 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1100 block of
Valencia Way regarding a fraud investigation. The officer discovered someone
accessed the victim’s bank account and made fraudulent withdraws. The victim does
not know how the suspect obtained their bank account information.
Tuesday, March 24:
At approximately 12:04 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 700 block of
Arcadia Avenue regarding a theft from vehicle report. Sometime between March 8th
and 24th, someone stole the victim’s vehicle registration and title from inside the
vehicle. It is unknown if the car was locked during this time, however there were no
signs of forced entry.
Wednesday, March 25:
At approximately 9:07 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 200 block of
Longley Way regarding an aggravated assault incident. An investigation revealed a
domestic dispute escalated when the husband grabbed his wife’s forearm, leaving a
visible injury. The 34-year-old male from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the
Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Thursday, March 26:
At approximately 4:37 p.m., an officer responded to The Shops at Santa Anita, located
at 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a robbery report. The officer discovered two
suspects approached the victim in the parking lot, displayed a black handgun, and
then forcibly removed the victim’s watch from his wrist. The suspects fled in a dark
colored sedan. They are described as two Black males, both with thin builds and
wearing dark colored hooded sweatshirts.
Friday, March 27:
At approximately 8:29 p.m., officers responded to an aggravated assault call for service
that occurred in the 5500 block of Peck Road. An investigation revealed an altercation
between associates resulted in the suspect brandishing a firearm and hitting the victim
with it. The suspect, a 59-year-old male from El Monte, is outstanding.
Saturday, March 28:
At approximately 4:04 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1100 block of
Catalpa Road regarding a burglary report. The officer determined someone
shattered a second story window and fled with various items. The investigation is
pending a review of the surveillance footage
