For the period of Sunday, May 11th through Saturday, May 17th

, the Police Department responded to 836 calls for service, of which 91 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the incidents handled by the Department during this period.



Sunday, May 11:

At approximately 12:23 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 600 block of West Palm Drive regarding a residential burglary investigation. Sometime between 11:00 a.m. and 12:11 p.m. on May 11th , unidentified suspect(s) broke a rear glass door, ransacked a closet, and fled with jewelry and a safe.


Monday, May 12:

At approximately 9:06 a.m., an officer responded to the front counter of the Arcadia Police

Department regarding a grand theft that occurred on May 10th. The victim stated he was returning to his vehicle after visiting Bank of America, located at 1234 South Baldwin Avenue, when the suspect approached him. The suspect handed the victim nails and stated he had a flat tire and should throw the nails away. While throwing away the nails, someone entered the victim’s trunk and stole a bag containing cash and electronics. The suspect is described as a Hispanic female in her 40s, approximately 5’7” tall, and wearing a fluorescent hat and rain jacket.


1Tuesday, May 13:

At approximately 4:01 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 2500 block of Albert Way regarding a burglary report. The victim discovered someone turned off the power and broke a glass panel in a rear door to enter the home. Once inside, they tampered with the alarm system and fled with jewelry. The investigation is pending a review of available surveillance footage.


Wednesday, May 14:

At approximately 11:11 p.m., an officer responded to Vons parking lot, located at 745 West Naomi Avenue, regarding a theft from vehicle incident. Sometime between 10:00 p.m. and 10:20 p.m., someone entered the victim’s vehicle by unknown means and fled with electronics and personal items.


Thursday, May 15:

At approximately 2:44 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 100 block of West Wistaria Avenue regarding a burglary report. Surveillance cameras captured three male suspects shattering a rear sliding glass door and ransacking the home. No loss was reported.


Friday, May 16:

At approximately 4:50 a.m., officers responded to the area of 400 West Huntington Drive regarding a vandalism and domestic dispute. An investigation revealed the suspect crashed his vehicle into his brother’s garage door and an argument ensued. When officers attempted to detain the suspect, the 36-year-old male from Fullerton attempted to remove weapons from both officers. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


Saturday, May 17:

At approximately 8:05 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Clark Street and Kardashian Avenue regarding a vehicle that had crashed into a street pole. Upon contacting the driver, the 30-year-old male from Monrovia admitted to consuming a large amount of alcohol before attempting to drive home. A preliminary alcohol screening test found the driver had a blood alcohol content of .22%. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
