Arcadia News of 1927

A Special Session of the City Council was held on September 1, 1927. The motion before the Council was: “If the deeds to both Huntington Drive on the north end and parallel with the Pacific Electric Railway and Orange Avenue ( today’s Colorado) through tracts 948 & 949 being a part of the Baldwin Estate and individual property of Clara Baldwin Stocker, are not delivered to this office within 30 days, the City Attorney will be instructed to institute condemnation proceedings for acquisition of said right-of-way, procuring right-of-way thru Ross Field from the west end of Falling Leaf Ave. (Huntington Dr.) paralleling the Southern Pacific Parkway to the intersection of Huntington Dr. at a point to be determined by Los Angeles County engineers.” Motion passed.

Note: Anita Baldwin had complied with her part of the acquisition on February 2, 1927.

Grady Pardue, Captain in Police Department, would be allowed a telephone in his home and $2.00 a month for expenses.
