All day power outage today

Southern California Edison will be conducting a planned power outage impacting the immediate vicinity of Colorado Boulevard and Colorado Place (“Upper Y”) starting at 8:30 a.m. today, Good Friday, April 6, and lasting until 3 p.m., according to the Arcadia Police.

The traffic signal at the intersection will be inoperative during the Southern California Edison outage and stop signs will be placed.

This comes on opening day of the annual Arcadia Invitational national track meet that draws thousands of athletes and fans to Arcadia High School for the weekend from all over the country, during which the Santa Anita Derby will be run on Saturday. That event will also involve the closing of Baldwin Avenue Saturday morning for the Derby Day 5K.

The police advise to remember to treat inoperative or blacked out signals as stop signs. California law requires drivers to stop inoperative signals. The planned outage may impact traffic during the event. Please be patient or consider using alternate routes like Huntington Drive or Foothill Boulevard.

For additional information regarding the planned outage, please contact SCE at (888) 759-6056, reference outage #498267.
