AHS Percussion wins Worlds

The Arcadia High School Varsity (World) Percussion line are now national champions after winning at the 2011 WGI World Percussion Championships finals Saturday, April 16, at Dayton, Ohio.

While the next three highest-scoring teams were separated by less than 1 1/2 points, the AHS team’s score of 97.525 was nearly two points higher than the second-place team in their division.

Performing a program called Rise under director Kevin Sherrill, the AHS team was one of 15 percussion finalists in the Scholastic World division —

the highest division for high school percussion units — six of the top ten of which were from Southern California.
