A Polo Field Proposal for Arcadia

In July 1935, The Arcadia Tribune reported that plans for the establishment of a “top-notch” polo field would be established in the 74 acres tract, between Huntington Drive and Colorado, across from today’s Santa Anita Inn. It was stated that the organizers and backers of the polo field, … ” foresee great possibilities of creating Arcadia into one of the athletic and recreational centers in the southland.

With Santa Anita Park housing the world’s finest racetrack, and the assurance of the creation of a 18 hole golf course on the Ross Field site, Arcadia seems destined to become one of the premier recreational centers in the country.”

The plan did not materialize.
