A Church Sanctuary from a Fire Station

It is easy to pass by the small building at 1424 South Baldwin Avenue and not realize its  interesting history. The Serbian Orthodox Church took possession of this property in 1964 and they have carefully maintained it through the years. It was a Lutheran congregation that purchased the building from the city of Arcadia in 1939 and reformed it from a fire station into a church. All of West Arcadia community’s fire protection had come from this fire station built in 1937 for $4,900.
